The entrance to the Heavenly Jerusalem
First, let us place ourselves in time. Construction on the Mirador gateway began to in 1389 by the master builder Pere Morey, who is attributed with the design and some of the sculptures. From 1396 to 1401, Pierre de Saint Jean took over and the master builder Guillem Sagrera completed the work between 1420-1447, who is also the author of the original Virgin of the mullion. The gateway you are looking at now is a reproduction from 1917, replacing the original to slow down its degradation. In terms of style, this is an architectural and sculptural ensemble that follows the guidelines of Levantine Gothic.
