Meet the Romans in Greece
The Roman Agora was built between 19-11 BCE. Unlike a classical Greek agora, which served as the central public space of a city-state, the Roman Agora was a proper marketplace. The building covered an area of more than 11,000 m² (118,403 ft²) with a central open space of 5700 m² (61,354 ft²) surrounded by 112 Ionic columns. A row of fifteen rooms, presumably shops, stood at the building’s far end.
