A new digital interactive guide brings together the 205 currently operating Greek archaeological museums providing all the necessary visit information. This innovative project is an initiative of the Directorate of Archaeological Museums, Exhibitions and Educational Programmes (DAMEEP) and was implemented in collaboration with Clio Muse Tours.
The new interactive website https://archaeologicalmuseums.gr/en features national, regional and local museums of all sizes and types providing information in Greek and in English. Users can either search the museum of their choice or scroll on the interactive map to explore all of the country’s cultural institutions. On the homepage are also displayed the number of museums and exhibitions that currently operate as well as visitors data for a specific time period. The ‘Archaeological Museums in Numbers’ section is updated automatically.
Photographic material detailed information about each museum’s exhibitions, services, opening hours, contact details, tickets fees and others are displayed on each museum’s subpage. A link to the museums’ official website is provided wherever is available.
This interactive digital guide aims to present Greece‘s prominent collections and exhibitions to locals and tourists and at the same time highlight both the popular and lesser-known museums. Its user-friendly interface makes it easy to navigate while its scalable software enables the people who manage it to effortlessly edit, change or correct information.
Offering a website that will become a valuable tool for cultural institutions and a helpful platform for those eager to discover the country’s cultural treasures was the main objective of this intriguing project commissioned by the Directorate of Archaeological Museums, Exhibitions and Educational Programmes (DAMEEP).
