Tell us a bit about yourself!
I studied Translation and Interpreting in Madrid. Apart from being a language freak, as I also love Art and History, I decided to take the official Tourist Guide exam for the Madrid region after graduating. I’m lucky to live in a country with an impressive historical heritage that makes it a world power in tourism, so I’m more than happy to share the best of my country with you! Regarding hobbies, I’m a soprano and sing in a choir, and I’m always looking forward to taking some days off to travel.
Can you give us a tip (off the beaten path) or a fun fact about the tour?
I’ve shared everything I know about the Cathedral, but I’ll tell you a few fun facts about the city.
1. Roof tiles are put upside-down! This technique guarantees impermeability and lightens roof weight, as fewer tiles are needed.
2. The devil himself had much to do with the construction of the aqueduct: a water carrier, tired of carrying the pitcher through the streets of the city, accepted a pact with the devil, who offered to build the aqueduct to carry water to her house in exchange for her soul. Thank God he didn’t get away with it!
Tell us a bit about what made you write for this venue.
I live in the beautiful city of Madrid, which is very close to Segovia. Many people from Madrid have a summer house there or just like to escape to Segovia during the weekend to change scenery, see the mountains, and enjoy the excellent gastronomy of the area. There is a close connection between both cities and their inhabitants.
Segovia and Madrid are sister cities, strongly intertwined by centuries of common history. I fondly remember day trips with my schoolmates and cultural visits with family and friends when I grew up. Segovia has always had a special atmosphere for me, and I hope you’ll be able to feel it as well!
