The aftermath of the Crucifixion
The ‘Compianto su Cristo Morto’, which translates as ‘Lamentation over the Dead Christ’ (often called simply ‘the Lamentation’), is composed of eight sculptures in a poignant and emotionally charged scene. It shows the aftermath of the Crucifixion, with the lifeless body of Jesus being mourned by various figures, including Mary and Mary Magdalene. The body of Jesus is kept horizontal by an iron support beneath him.

The self-guided audio tour is designed to start at the entrance of the Palazzo Madama (P.za Castello, 10122 Torino). The easiest way to get there is by bus or tram. The Palazzo is in the heart of the city. Take the bus or tram lines 13, 15, 55, 56 (Castello station) The tour ends inside the Palazzo Madama (Torre Civica)
