Explore The Tower of Pisa

The Tower of Pisa, known worldwide for its iconic tilt, is a remarkable architectural structure located in the city of Pisa, Italy. As part of the Piazza dei Miracoli (Square of Miracles) complex, this freestanding bell tower is one of the most recognizable landmarks in the world.

Construction of the tower began in the 12th century and took several centuries to complete. The tower’s unintended tilt became apparent during its construction due to a weak foundation on soft ground. Despite efforts to correct the tilt, the tower remains inclined, adding to its unique charm and intrigue.

The Tower of Pisa stands at approximately 55.9 meters tall and is composed of white marble. Its design follows a cylindrical shape with eight levels of arches and columns, featuring intricate Gothic and Romanesque architectural styles.
