Bringing together the royal dynasties
The museum has three floors, one dedicated to the Habsburg dynasty, another to the Bourbons, and a third for hosting temporary exhibitions. The aim is to display royal collections from the time of the Catholic Monarchs Ferdinand and Isabella to the present day. The objects and artworks come from various sites, including the royal palace of Aranjuez, the royal palace of La Granja de San Ildefonso, and the royal palace of Riofrío. As each monarch had his own interests, the collections have a wide variety of objects spanning the centuries, from paintings and sculptures to tapestries, porcelain, and furniture.

There is no meeting point.
The self-guided audio tour is designed to start just outside at the entrance of the Royal Collections Gallery (C/ Bailén s/n – Beside the viewpoint, between the Royal Palace and the Cathedral of La Almudena). The easiest way to get there is to take the metro and get off at Ópera, Príncipe Pío, or Plaza de España stations. The tour ends inside the Royal Collections Gallery.
