In ancient times, Ephesus was a bustling trading city and a center of worship of Cybele — the Anatolian goddess of fertility. In time, she was adopted into the Graeco-Roman religion as Artemis, the goddess of the hunt and the wilderness. In Ephesus, she was worshipped in the enormous temple that was one of the Seven Wonders of the ancient world.
Enjoy a hassle-free visit to the Ephesus provided by a skip-the-line e-ticket that comes with a self-guided audio tour on your smartphone. Receive your e-ticket by email, download the audio tour on your smartphone and travel back to the city’s former life.
Directions
Directly after entering the site, the wide square of the State Agora is visible in front of the visitors. It is possible to walk around it as there are paths surrounding the agora. The southern path is less frequently selected but it shows the preserved fragments of the ancient road with a colonnade and a ruined monumental fountain. The northern path follows the course of the magnificent double stoa and heads towards the Domitian Square to the west.
