A Place to Feel Safe
Since the castle was impregnable, Pope Nicholas III Orsini decided to have it connected with the Vatican Palaces through the Passetto di Borgo, an elevated passage linking Castel Sant’ Angelo with the Vatican city. From this moment on, the Castle would remain tied to the history of the Popes, who used it as their fortress and shelter at times of danger. The perimeter walls were added and many additional improvements were commissioned so that the castle could accommodate the papal apartments. Alexander VI Borgia had a new apartment built and commissioned the frescoes to Pinturicchio while Clement VII had a private bathroom decorated with pagan motifs constructed for him.

Too much We listened to about 20 min and after that we stopped. Had we listened to everything we would have been at the Parthenon for hours. It was an extremely hot day. We were there right when they opened at 8am and left around 930. It was already 96 degrees at that time. Really wished we had done a small guided tour instead. 
Worth the climb to see the views and “Michael” The audio guide on our phone app was not that easy to follow. We ended up not using it. It is an amazing place and worth the climb to the top. The cafe is good too!
Great information but hard to follow Information is very thorough and clear. However I found it hard to match the sites with the descriptions in a timely manner. I ended up turning it off and listening to it later.
Very nice experience The Castle Sant' Angelio is unique and the audio tour provided excellent information. The experience was great.
