National Historical Museum

The National Historical Museum is situated in Kolokotronis square in Stadiou Street in the heart of Athens’ city center. Though it is the oldest museum of its kind, it is housed in its current location in the Old Parliament building since 1960. Through its rich collections, the photographic and documents archives and the Library of the Historical and Ethnological Society of Greece, the prominent museum presents the history of the modern greek state.

From the Ottoman and Latin rule to the Greek War of Independence and the creation of Modern Greece, the National Historical Museum takes visitors on an insightful journey through time.
